Some songs write themselves with minimal fuss. Running to You is about a relationship’s promise to always be completely honest leading to its downfall.
With Running to You, I jumped straight into Logic to produce a full-sounding demo with a four-piece rock band’s aesthetics.
This song was recorded and produced by Erik Koskinen. He even adds some slide guitar in the turnarounds.
Erik mixed the song and we shipped it off to Justin Perkins for mastering. And now for the finished song:
I’m neither tall nor dark nor handsome
I’ll never be a catch or anyone's anthem
But I’ll tell you the truth even if it means I have to tell you the truth
Like how I’m not the one as if you needed any more proof
But you couldn’t leave me here on my lonesome
You can’t quit now the things you’ve set in motion
But you’re running out of time to find someone that’s suited for you
Those things you’ve done have ceded to the things you’ll do
I’ll keep on running to you
I’ll keep on running to you
Whatever it is you want me to do, I’ll do it for you
There are some messes worth fighting for
There are some messes worth leaving on the floor
I thought ours was the former, but I promised you I’ll tell you the truth
You’re better off with out me as if you needed any more proof
I’ll keep on running to you
I’ll keep on running to you
Whatever it is you want me to do, I’ll do it for you
Yeah, I’ll keep on running to you
I’ll keep on running to you
Whatever it is you want me to do, I’ll do it for you
I’ll keep on running to you
I’ll keep on running to you
Whatever it is you want me to do, I’ll do it for you
I’ll keep on running to you
I’ll keep on running to you
Whatever it is you want me to do, I’ll do it for you
Yeah, I’ll keep on running to you
I’ll keep on running
